Bosch Dishwasher E24 Error in Hope Island

ISB Electrical recently attended a Bosch dishwasher repair in Hope Island after the customer reported an E24 error code. In many Bosch dishwashers, E24 is commonly linked with drainage problems, but this repair was different.

After inspection, we found that the customer had been using detergent tablets and the plastic coating from the tablet had not dissolved completely. Part of the undissolved tablet material became stuck inside the wash motor area and stopped the impeller from turning freely.

This caused poor water circulation, interrupted the wash cycle and triggered the Bosch dishwasher E24 error.

Customer Complaint

The customer advised that the Bosch dishwasher had the following symptoms:

• Bosch dishwasher showing E24 error
• Dishwasher stopping during the cycle
• Water not circulating properly
• Dishes not washing correctly
• Intermittent draining problem

Initial Inspection

We first checked the most common causes of Bosch E24 faults, including the drain pump, filter area, drain hose and sink connection. The drain pump was working and there was no major blockage in the normal drainage path.

Further diagnosis showed the issue was inside the wash motor area. The wash motor impeller was restricted and could not rotate properly.

Fault Found

The real fault was undissolved detergent tablet plastic and residue stuck inside the wash motor housing. This material jammed the wash motor impeller and stopped proper water circulation through the dishwasher.

Repair Performed

Our technician carried out the following repair:

• Removed dishwasher filters and checked the sump area
• Inspected the drain pump and drain hose
• Accessed the wash motor area
• Removed undissolved detergent tablet residue
• Cleaned the wash motor impeller area
• Checked that the impeller was turning freely
• Reassembled the dishwasher
• Tested the dishwasher through the wash cycle

After the obstruction was removed, the wash motor impeller rotated correctly and the dishwasher completed the cycle without the E24 error returning.

Why Detergent Tablets Can Cause Problems

Dishwasher tablets are designed to dissolve during the wash cycle. However, if the tablet does not dissolve completely, the remaining plastic film or hard detergent residue can move through the dishwasher and create problems.

Common reasons detergent tablets may not dissolve properly include:

• Short wash cycles
• Low water temperature
• Poor water circulation
• Incorrect tablet placement
• Overloaded dishwasher
• Tablet stored in damp conditions before use

Important Advice for Bosch Dishwasher Owners

If your Bosch dishwasher shows E24, do not assume it is always only a drain pump problem. The fault may be caused by restricted water circulation, a blocked wash motor area, a jammed impeller, a blocked drain path or another internal issue.

A proper diagnosis is important before replacing parts.
