A customer in Helensvale contacted ISB Electrical because their Fisher & Paykel dishwasher was not filling with water. The dishwasher would start the cycle, but water was not entering the machine correctly.
When a dishwasher does not fill, the fault can be caused by a blocked inlet filter, faulty water inlet valve, failed solenoid windings, control board issue, low water pressure, damaged wiring or a problem with the water supply. In this case, the water supply to the dishwasher was checked and the inlet valve was tested.
The fault was caused by a faulty single water inlet valve. The valve windings were open circuit, which meant the valve could not energise and open to allow water into the dishwasher.
If the valve solenoid winding is open circuit, the dishwasher control may call for water, but the valve will not operate. This causes the dishwasher to remain empty or stop during the filling stage.
The faulty single water inlet valve was replaced. After replacement, the Fisher & Paykel dishwasher was tested to confirm water was entering the appliance correctly.
The dishwasher was then tested through the filling stage and normal operation was confirmed.
