A customer in Pacific Pines contacted ISB Electrical because their Fisher & Paykel dishwasher was leaking water. Water was appearing under the machine and spreading around the kitchen floor.

Fault Found

The leak was caused by a damaged drain hose behind the machine. The hose had been damaged by a mouse, allowing water to escape onto the floor during the drain stage.

The dishwasher itself was able to operate, but when the drain pump pushed water through the damaged hose, water leaked from behind the appliance and spread underneath the machine and across the floor.

Repair Required

The damaged drain hose required replacement. After replacing the hose, the dishwasher should be tested through the drain cycle to confirm water flows correctly into the waste outlet with no further leakage.

The customer was also advised to check the area behind the dishwasher and nearby cabinetry for signs of pest entry, as mouse damage can affect hoses, insulation and wiring around appliances.
