A customer in Robina contacted ISB Electrical because their Beko washing machine was leaking water during the cycle. Water was appearing underneath the appliance and around the laundry floor.

Washing machine leaks can come from several areas, including the door gasket, detergent dispenser, inlet hoses, drain pump, internal hoses, drain hose or tub connections. In this case, the leak was coming from an internal hose connected between the detergent dispenser and the washing tub.

Inspection and Diagnosis

• Inspected the front door gasket and visible lower cabinet area
• Checked the detergent dispenser for overflow or blockage
• Inspected the internal hose path from dispenser to tub
• Checked the concertina hose for splits, cracks and damage
• Tested the washing machine during filling and wash stages
• Confirmed the leak source before advising repair options

Fault Found

The water leak was caused by a broken concertina hose from the detergent dispenser to the tub. When water entered through the dispenser during the wash cycle, it escaped from the damaged hose and leaked down inside the machine.

This type of internal hose damage can cause water to appear under the washing machine even though the door gasket and external inlet hoses may look normal.

Repair Required

The broken dispenser-to-tub concertina hose required replacement. After replacing the damaged hose, the washing machine should be tested through the filling and wash stages to confirm the water flows correctly from the dispenser into the tub without leaking.

The customer was advised not to continue using the washing machine until the damaged hose was repaired, as water leaking inside the cabinet can spread to electrical components, the motor area and the laundry floor.
