A customer in Runaway Bay contacted ISB Electrical because their Asko dishwasher was leaking water during operation. Water was appearing underneath the appliance and the customer was concerned that the leak could damage the kitchen cabinetry and flooring.
Asko dishwashers can leak from several different areas, including the door seal, lower sump area, drain hose, inlet hose, circulation pump connection or internal pipework. A proper inspection is important before replacing any parts.
The water leak was traced to the lower internal hose and sump connection area. During the wash cycle, water was escaping from the connection and running into the lower section of the dishwasher.
This type of leak can also activate the Asko waterproof system if water reaches the base tray. If the dishwasher continues to be used while leaking, it can cause further damage to electrical components, cabinetry and flooring.
The damaged leaking section required repair or replacement, and the hose connection needed to be secured correctly. The base tray also needed to be dried and the dishwasher tested through a full cycle to confirm there were no further leaks.
The customer was advised not to continue using the dishwasher until the leak was repaired and the waterproof protection area was properly checked.
