A customer in Sanctuary Cove contacted ISB Electrical because their Smeg cooktop was not switching on. The touch display was not responding correctly, and the cooktop could not be operated.
When a Smeg cooktop does not switch on, the fault can be caused by a failed touch controller, faulty main PCB, damaged power supply circuit, burnt wiring connection, control lock issue, display fault or internal electronic failure. In this case, the display touch controller and main control board were inspected and tested.
The fault was caused by a faulty display touch controller and a faulty main PCB. Because the touch controller and main electronic board were not operating correctly, the Smeg cooktop could not switch on or respond to normal controls.
The display touch controller receives the user commands, while the main PCB controls the internal cooktop operation. If either board fails, the cooktop may not power up, may not respond to touch commands, or may not allow the elements to operate.
The display touch controller and main PCB require replacement. After replacing the faulty electronic components, the cooktop should be tested to confirm the touch display responds correctly, the cooktop switches on and all cooking zones operate safely.
The customer was advised not to continue using the appliance until the faulty electronic parts are replaced and the cooktop has been tested for safe operation.
