When the freezer is cold but the fridge compartment is warm, the fault is often related to air circulation. Cold air is produced around the evaporator area and moved through the cabinet by the fan motor. If the fan is blocked by ice, cold air cannot circulate properly into the fridge section.

Inspection and Diagnosis

• Checked the evaporator fan motor area
• Found the fan motor stuck with ice build-up
• Checked the defrost system operation

Fault Found

The fridge compartment was warm because the fan motor was stuck with ice. Cold air could not circulate correctly from the freezer/evaporator area into the fridge compartment.

The cause of the ice build-up was traced to a faulty defrost sensor. When the defrost system does not operate correctly, ice can build up around the evaporator and fan area, stopping the fan from moving air through the cabinet.

Repair Completed

The faulty defrost sensor was replaced. The fan area was checked and the refrigerator was tested to confirm the fan motor could operate and air circulation was restored.

After the repair, the Samsung refrigerator was tested for cooling operation. The customer was advised that the fridge compartment temperature may take time to stabilise after the ice build-up is cleared and normal air flow is restored.
