Haier Dishwasher Not Draining – Broadbeach

A customer in Broadbeach contacted ISB Electrical because their Haier dishwasher was not draining water. Water was left inside the dishwasher at the end of the cycle, and the machine could not complete normal operation.

When a dishwasher does not drain, the fault can be caused by a blocked filter, restricted drain hose, stuck drain pump impeller, foreign objects inside the pump, broken glass in the sump area, faulty drain pump or a drainage restriction under the sink. In this case, the pump impeller was stuck because of glass.

Inspection and Diagnosis

• Checked the dishwasher power supply and safety condition
• Confirmed water was not draining from the dishwasher
• Checked the filter and sump area
• Inspected the drain pump area
• Found glass obstructing the pump impeller
• Checked the drain hose for restriction
• Cleared the pump impeller obstruction
• Tested the dishwasher through the drain stage

Fault Found

The fault was caused by the drain pump impeller being stuck because of glass. The glass stopped the impeller from rotating correctly, preventing the dishwasher from pumping water out.

Small pieces of broken glass can pass through the filter area and become lodged inside the pump. This can stop the pump from draining, cause unusual noise, damage the impeller or burn out the drain pump if the appliance continues to be used.

Repair Completed

The glass was removed from the pump area, and the pump impeller was cleared. After clearing the obstruction, the Haier dishwasher was tested to confirm the drain pump was operating correctly.

The dishwasher was checked through the drain cycle to confirm water was draining properly and the appliance was operating normally after the repair.
