Westinghouse Dishwasher Making Noise in Burleigh Waters
ISB Electrical attended a Westinghouse dishwasher repair job in Burleigh Waters where the customer reported a loud grinding and rattling noise during operation.
Dishwasher noise can come from the drain pump, circulation motor, wash motor, spray arms or foreign objects trapped inside the pump system.
Customer Complaint
The customer advised that the dishwasher had become noisy during the wash and drain stages. The machine was still running, but the sound was much louder than normal.
Diagnosis
We inspected the drain pump, circulation motor, sump area, filters, spray arms and internal wash system.
Foreign objects were found inside the pump and circulation system, causing the noise during operation.
Fault Found
A piece of glass was found inside the drain pump and was causing a grinding noise during the drain cycle.
Plastic debris was also found in the circulation motor area, affecting normal water circulation and creating additional noise during the wash cycle.
Repair Carried Out
The broken glass was removed from the drain pump and the plastic debris was removed from the circulation motor area.
After cleaning the pump system and checking the motor operation, the dishwasher was tested through wash and drain cycles. The noise was eliminated and the dishwasher returned to normal operation.
