Samsung Fridge Water Leaking in Oxenford
ISB Electrical attended a Samsung refrigerator repair job in Oxenford where the customer reported water collecting underneath the crisper drawers and leaking inside the fridge compartment.
This is one of the most common Samsung refrigerator faults. Customers often notice water pooling under the vegetable drawers, ice forming behind the rear panel or water running onto lower shelves.
Customer Complaint
The customer reported that water was repeatedly appearing underneath the vegetable trays. The fridge was still cooling correctly, however the water leak continued to return after being wiped up.
Diagnosis
We removed the internal evaporator cover and inspected the Samsung defrost drainage system. The drain channel and drain tube were checked for restrictions and ice build-up.
Fault Found
The defrost drain was blocked. During the automatic defrost cycle, water could not flow through the drain tube to the evaporation tray near the compressor.
Instead, the water accumulated inside the refrigerator compartment and eventually overflowed underneath the lower drawers.
Repair Carried Out
The blocked drain was cleared, the drain tube was cleaned and the complete drainage path was tested. The evaporator area was defrosted and the refrigerator was checked to ensure water flowed correctly to the drain pan.
