ISB Electrical attended a Samsung refrigerator repair job in Coomera where the customer reported poor cooling, ice build-up behind the rear panel and unstable fridge temperature.
Samsung refrigerators can stop defrosting when the defrost sensor, thermal fuse, heater circuit or electronic control system fails. When this happens, ice builds up around the evaporator and blocks cold air circulation.
The customer noticed that the fridge section was becoming warmer, while ice was forming inside the rear evaporator area. The fan noise also became louder because ice build-up was affecting airflow.
We removed the internal rear cover and inspected the evaporator area. The Samsung defrost system was tested, including the defrost sensor, thermofuse, defrost heater, wiring and control board output.
Testing showed that the defrost sensor was reading more than 30kΩ, which was outside normal operating behaviour for the conditions. The thermofuse was also open circuit, preventing the defrost heater circuit from operating correctly.
Because the defrost system could not operate, ice continued to build up around the evaporator and restricted airflow into the fridge compartment.
The faulty defrost components were identified, the evaporator section was defrosted and the customer was advised of the required repair to restore proper automatic defrost operation.
Samsung defrost faults can look similar from the outside, but the actual cause may be a sensor, heater, thermofuse, wiring or PCB fault. Proper resistance and continuity testing prevents unnecessary parts replacement.
If your Samsung fridge is not defrosting in Coomera or nearby Gold Coast suburbs, ISB Electrical can diagnose the fault and provide a practical repair solution.
