Ilve Gas Cooktop Not Igniting – Benowa Repair

A customer in Benowa contacted ISB Electrical because their Ilve gas cooktop was not igniting properly. The spark plugs stopped working after a strong lightning thunderstorm and the burners could not be started normally.

Problem

The ILVE gas cooktop had gas supply available, but the burners would not ignite because the spark ignition system stopped working. The customer noticed the issue immediately after a heavy thunderstorm with lightning activity.

Diagnosis

After inspection, we checked the spark plugs, ignition wiring, switches and ignitor module. The fault was traced to a damaged ignitor unit caused by electrical surge from the lightning storm.

Repair

We replaced the faulty ignitor unit and tested the full ignition system. After repair, all burners ignited correctly again and the ILVE cooktop was operating normally.
