Fisher & Paykel Fridge Display Not Working in Paradise Point
ISB Electrical attended a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator repair job in Paradise Point after the customer reported that the display panel on the refrigerator door had stopped working completely.
The refrigerator was still cooling, however the display was blank and the customer could no longer view or adjust temperature settings.
Customer Complaint
The customer advised that the display had become intermittent before eventually failing completely. The control panel on the door was no longer illuminated and some refrigerator functions were difficult to operate.
Diagnosis
We inspected the display module, door wiring harness, control board and electrical connections between the refrigerator cabinet and the door.
Fisher & Paykel French door refrigerators commonly experience wiring failures where the harness passes through the top door hinge due to repeated opening and closing of the refrigerator door.
Fault Found
Several wires inside the top door hinge harness had broken.
The damaged wiring interrupted power and communication signals between the main control board and the display module, causing the display to stop working.
The repeated movement of the refrigerator door over many years had caused fatigue in the wiring harness and eventual conductor failure.
Repair Carried Out
The wiring harness was inspected and the broken wires were identified within the top door hinge area.
The customer was advised regarding repair options for the damaged wiring harness and associated components.
